How to get started in Star Citizen

When a new player first launches Star Citizen the menus can be a lot to take in.  Star Citizen contains two main portions of the game, the Universe andElectronic Accessr.  The Universe combines ship piloting and first person shooter game play into one area that currently hosts 24 players.  Exploration, combat, various missions and the ability to crew large space ships with other players are among the many things to do in the Universe at Crusader.  Electronic Access contains options for Arena Commander and Star Marine, although Star Marine is Disabled until patch 2.6.  Arena Commander is a battle simulation that currently hosts ship combat with various match styles to chose from, including battling swarms of npcs or other players.  Star Marine will be a FPS style simulator that will contain various match types, much like Arena Commander.  Additionally there is the Hangar, where you can view and customize your ships.  To help any new players that might feel overwhelmed by all the various match types I have made a video with a complete walk through of how to navigate the basic menus in Star Citizen.

Star Citizen Starter Pack Giveaway Announcement (PC Game)

Star Citizen is an amazing PC game that is currently in the alpha stage of development, meaning new features are frequently added but the game will have various bugs.  Star Citizen is a crowd funded game meaning there is not a publishing company that will interfere with game development for the sake of getting the game on store shelves quicker.  The result is an amazing space game that includes both ship to ship combat and first person shooter scenarios.  Personally I view Star Citizen as the future of games, and enjoy playing the game through the various stages of development, so I would like to spread this joy to 1 lucky person.  On my Youtube channel I have a video showing how to enter for a chance to win a basic Star Citizen Starter pack, and for those who are interested I describe the Fall Free Fly 2016, so you can try the game before you buy it.

Ark: SE- Auto turret guide/tips

Ark: SE- Auto turret guide/tips

This video demonstrates how to effectively use auto turrets for anti rocket and dino defense.  The key to using auto turrets correctly is selecting the correct range, target and warning depending on the job each turret needs to do.  Having all turrets set to high range makes them easier to drain, by varying your turret settings you can prolong a raid and give yourself more time to mount a successful defense.

Setting turrets to defend against rockets and grenades is a key part of base defense, you dont have to kill all their dinos if they run out of explosives before they can get in your base.  One of the most important things about an anti rocket turret is making sure it is very hard to drain ammo out of it.  To accomplish this set it to medium range, because the rocket will explode when it is shot, and on low range the explosion from the rocket will damage your structures and eventually destroy the turret.  Also enabling this turret to only target players will prevent dinos such as deodics that are dropped from quetzals from soaking all your ammo.  Additionally I would recommend a 4 second warning on this turret, so that players or player ridden dinos that make it in the turrets range must stay there longer to get that turret to shoot, increasing the chances that the other turrets will kill the attacker.  You will typically only have 1 or 2 anti turrets on each side of your base.

Turrets that are intended to kill players will be set similar to anti rocket turrets.  Turrets filling this role will want a 2 second or no warning on them to help them successfully target players with highly increased movement speed. These turrets will obviously be set to target only players since you don't want them drained easily, but you must beware that player only turrets will still target players mounted on a dino, although the damage will be dealt to the dino instead.  The only exception to this is a player on a platform saddle who has a structure built around the rider, this player wont be target-able.  When it comes to anti player turret range I suggest putting a mix on medium and high firing ranges, since these turrets are also able to assist in anti rocket firing as well.  I would recommend 2 to 4 anti player set turrets on each side of your base.

The majority of your turrets should be optimized against tamed but possibly unmounted dinos.  These turrets will nearly always be set to high range to keep attackers as far away from your base as possible, but they will also be the easiest to drain.  These turrets are intended to stall raiders, giving you more time to try and snipe the raiders, or pick them up with flyers and drop them in turret range.  I would recommend no warning in most situations, although a 2 second warning adds the chance of slower or weaker dinos being caught unaware in turret range and being unable to get back out.  These turrets will be set to target players and tamed dinos, just beware of doedics, it is usually advisable to remove them from your turret range with a qurtzal as quickly as possible.

Ark: Survival Evolved- Base Design and Tour- VaulTech Base

The BOSS is back, this time bringing you a tour of his new base design.  This base focuses on using building methods for defense instead of auto turrets.  While auto turrets are incorporated in this design, they play a secondary role in base defense.  This build includes the idea of building a metal dino garage as a substitute for a metal gate perimeter, due to the extremely high cost of metal behemoth gates.  So far this method has proven to be both a cheaper and better strategic choice than the alternatives, since the dino garage keeps key dinos completely enclosed and protected from air attacks.  The only downside to a dino garage is that as a tribe grows and tames more dinos, some of the less essential dinos must eventually be stored outside of the garage.  The important crafting stations needed to survive and thrive in Ark are protected by being sealed behind metal walls, making looting the base very expensive.  In addition the entire metal base has been surrounded and covered by vaults, which inspired the tribe name VaulTech.  This design provides a tribe with ample storage, and a very stout defense.

Boss on Youtube: instructional videos and game play

Today BOSS on Youtube released its first video showing game play on ARK: Survival Evolved.  This is a new channel that will bring you tons of game play and instructional footage.  The first gives instructions on how to build a "Boss approved" raft base for Ark: survival Evolved.  The footage shows how to do the basic design for a secure base on a raft without limiting the creativity of the player using this design. It also gives examples on how an end game raft could look and perform, by displaying a metal structure complete with a generator and 6 sentry guns.
